Indiana Hemp & Cannabis Legislation Tracker

Current Status of Hemp & Cannabis in Indiana

Indiana maintains relatively strict cannabis laws compared to neighboring states. While industrial hemp (defined as cannabis with less than 0.3% THC) was legalized for commercial cultivation following the 2018 Farm Bill, marijuana remains illegal for both recreational and most medical uses. Limited medical CBD oil (containing less than 0.3% THC) is permitted for patients with specific qualifying conditions.

The state continues to debate potential expansions to medical cannabis programs and has seen evolving regulations around hemp-derived products. This tracker provides up-to-date information on legislation changes, important timelines, and the legal status of various cannabinoids in Indiana.
